Winter: Manchester is, of course, situated in the heart of New England Ski country, just 8 Miles from Bromley Mountain, 18 Miles from Magic Mountain and 15 Miles from Stratton. But the area also offers other opportunities for Winter fun:
Cross Country Skiing is available at the famous Hildene Homestead (802) 362-1788,

Riley Rink at Hunter Park offers an Olympic Ice Rink and is just across the street from the Motel. Call for schedule at (802)362-0150.
Snowmobiling is offered up in Killington at the Killington Snowmobile Tours (802) 422-2563 and in Bennington at Twin Brook. Woodford Mall (802) 442-4054. Taylor Farm offers sleigh rides during the winter month in Londonderry, Vermont by appointment at (802) 824-5690.
Spring: If you like to avoid traffic and crowds then Spring is the ideal time to Visit Manchester. The outlets are open and the sales are still there, but the people are fewer and farther between.
Summer: The biggest area event every Summer is the Vermont Summer Festival just a mile or two from the Motel at the Bebe Farm in East Dorset. Reservations are key during this period, particularly for the weekends. Most hotels are booked solid for the duration of the Festival. You will need to plan a head.
Summer entertainment in the area includes the Summer Playhouses in Dorset (802) 867-5777 and Weston Playhouse Theatre Company (802) 824-5288 - Always call for reservations in advance. Concerts are held at Hildene (802) 362-1788 and Southern Vermont Arts Center (802) 362.1405.
The Alpine Slide at Bromley Mountain offers lots of fun things for kids and adults to entertain an afternoon from the original alpine slide, to the new water slide, miniature golf, the go-cart park and many other activities (you could stay all afternoon).
There are numerous craft shows held during the summer, at Hildene as well as the famous car show which has been taking place for numerous years, antique show, flea markets, sidewalk sales (in August), and lots of Auctions to be found.
Tours include Hildene (A Georgian Revival mansion built by President Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln), Wilson Castle, Calvin Coolidge Homestead.
The Battenkill river is ideal for boating, swimming and fishing. Just north of Manchester is Emerald Lake, they host a great swimming spot as well as boating, hiking, picnicking and camping out. Otter Creek is just north of Manchester and is ideal for fishing and boating on. Once referred to as the “trophy river for trout, in Vermont.” There are several other small ponds, and water falls in the area that make for great day hikes, please contact the forest ranger for more information.
Fall: Manchester is frequently cited as the #1 most beautiful fall foliage spot in all of Vermont. The Bromley Alpine Slide is run only on weekends September thru October. Most tours are taking place and plays and concerts are becoming more limited. And there’s still lots of hiking and boating around.
Shopping, of course, is a four season sport: Manchester became known for outlet shopping in the 1980's.
