There are numerous craft shows held during the summer, at Hildene as well as the famous car show which has been taking place for numerous years, antique show, flea markets, sidewalk sales (in August), and lots of Auctions to be found.

Tours include Hildene (A Georgian Revival mansion built by President Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln), Wilson Castle, Calvin Coolidge Homestead.

The Battenkill river is ideal for boating, swimming and fishing. Just north of Manchester is Emerald Lake, they host a great swimming spot as well as boating, hiking, picnicking and camping out. Otter Creek is just north of Manchester and is ideal for fishing and boating on. Once referred to as the “trophy river for trout, in Vermont.” There are several other small ponds, and water falls in the area that make for great day hikes, please contact the forest ranger for more information.

Fall: Manchester is frequently cited as the #1 most beautiful fall foliage spot in all of Vermont. The Bromley Alpine Slide is run only on weekends September thru October. Most tours are taking place and plays and concerts are becoming more limited. And there’s still lots of hiking and boating around.
